For this blog, we’re revisiting one of our favourite weddings. Becky and Sam’s incredible day at Hazel Gap Barn.
This is the first of a few weddings we’re finally sharing from that unforgettable period when everything was postponed. After a huge backlog, it feels good to start putting these amazing days where they belong.
The Venue: Hazel Gap Barn
Hazel Gap Barn in Nottinghamshire is a stunning countryside venue, blending rustic charm with an elegant feel.
With its exposed beams, beautiful stonework, and picturesque outdoor spaces, it offers the perfect setting for a relaxed yet stylish wedding day.
It’s a venue that always delivers, both for atmosphere and for photography.
The Wedding Day
We first met Becky and Sam back in 2019, sat outside the Hope and Anchor on a warm evening, chatting through their plans for a wedding that was meant to take place in 2021.
Then everything changed.
After the delays and uncertainty, they finally had their day in May 2022 at Hazel Gap Barn, and it was more than worth the wait.
This wedding felt special for so many reasons. Not least because we’d already photographed so many of their friends’ weddings over the years, making it feel like a reunion with familiar faces everywhere we turned.
A Day Full of Energy and Emotion
Becky had a clear vision for the day, and she absolutely brought it to life.
From the vibrant styling to the atmosphere throughout, everything felt full of personality. Becky and Sam are the kind of couple you instantly click with. Warm, genuine, and full of life.
The day flowed perfectly.
A fun, relaxed morning of prep led into an emotional ceremony and speeches that struck the perfect balance of heartfelt and hilarious.
But the real magic came later.
A Dancefloor That Stole the Show
When it came to the evening, the energy went up another level.
The dancefloor was packed from the start. A sea of smiling faces, non-stop movement, and the kind of atmosphere every couple dreams of.
This wasn’t just a party, it was the heartbeat of the entire day.
Moments like this are what weddings are all about. Friends, family, laughter, and that shared energy that you can feel in every frame.
Final Thoughts
Becky and Sam’s wedding was a perfect reminder of why these days matter so much.
After everything they’d been through to get there, it became a celebration of not just their love, but the people around them too.
We feel incredibly lucky to have been part of it.
