Our Art Is Noticing You
As many of our couples already know, we absolutely love golden hour.
Golden hour portraits are some of our most recognisable images, and they are often the photographs couples look forward to the most on their wedding day. This short window of time, as the sun begins to set and the sky softens into warm tones, creates the perfect setting for timeless wedding photography.
Why Golden Hour Is Perfect for Wedding Photography
If you are lucky enough to have a clear sunset on your wedding day, the change in light is incredible.
Soft tones of gold, pink and orange begin to wash across the landscape, creating a natural glow that flatters both the couple and the setting.
The light at this time of day is softer and more even, which helps create:
- Long, romantic shadows
- Warm, flattering tones
- Balanced light without harsh highlights
- A soft, cinematic feel
It is one of the most natural and beautiful times of day to capture relaxed, meaningful portraits.

Capturing Golden Hour Portraits
Golden hour is always one of our favourite parts of the day to photograph.
There is always that sense of anticipation. Will the sunset appear, and how will it look? That unpredictability makes every golden hour unique and every set of images completely different.
When the light is right, we will often take you for a short walk away from the reception to make the most of it.
Using a mix of techniques, we create a variety of natural, emotive images:
- Backlighting to create a soft glow
- Silhouettes for a more dramatic, romantic feel
- Drone photography for wide, scenic views
- Positioning you naturally within the light
The aim is always to capture the moment as it feels, not to over-direct it.
