For our latest blog post we are in the Lake District with breathtaking scenery of Ullswater and the backdrop of Hallin Fell for the elopement of Laura and Nick.
The Lake District, and especially Ullswater hold a special place in our hearts. After numerous family holidays in this stunning region and also the place where we got engaged, we were obviously beyond excited to be Laura and Nick's Lake District Wedding Photographer
THE VENUE: Hause Hall Wedding Photography
Situated half way up the stunning Hallin Fell above Ullswater, Hause Hall the Cruick barn and Stables are a lavish wilderness haven of slate and stone with panoramic views inside and out.
This glorious, private farmstead of slate and Lakeland blue stone has a stunning glass extension and broad terrace overlooking sweeping hills above Ullswater. Renovated to the standard of a five star hotel, but with the privacy of a hermitage, it’s licensed for weddings so you can hold your ceremony and party in one unique place. (If you’re having a church service, the beautiful parish church of St Peters with its stained glass or the simple chapel of St Martins with its thousand-year-old yew tree are both a short walk away.
THE BIG DAY
As dawn broke over the Lake District, we felt a thrilling anticipation alongside our esteemed colleagues from Lincolnshire Videography as we reached the shores of Ullswater.
The stunning mountainous backdrop enveloped us as we began shooting, capturing moments as mist cascaded over the hills.
Today was the day Laura would marry Nick, the love of her life, and the backdrop couldn’t be more perfect.
Surrounded by rolling hills and the towering peak of Hallin Fell, the setting felt like a scene from a fairytale.
Laura and Nick had decided to elope to a place of utter beauty. With just their son and Laura's parents as witnesses, this wedding day was intimate yet stunningly beautiful.
After an emotional morning and ceremony looking out to the surrounding hills, we headed out to the winding road halfway up Hallin Fell to a panorama with such beauty it took the breath away.
Laura and Nick didn't care about the mud or the drizzle or the fog. In fact, it just added to the atmosphere, and their matching docks kept their feet dry.
A few pics with their custom Defender and it was back to Hause Hill where the chefs had cooked up a stunning vegan feast for everyone.
After food, we headed up Hallin Fell again just before dark but were met with a huge bank of fog that covered the views, so we shot some more amazing couples photos on the descent just under the fog line.
Then it was off to the shore of Ullswater for a surprise first dance in the lake with a candlelit private pianist.
As we arrived, the heavens duly opened, and torrential rain started pouring, but these guys continued dancing, so we continued shooting, and the results were spectacular.
We often get asked by couples, what should we do if it rains on our wedding day. Our reply is always "embrace it." From now on, though, it will be "embrace it like Laura and Nick" as these guys knew how to do it.
Surrounded by love, laughter, and the breathtaking scenery of Ullswater, Laura and Nick knew they had begun their journey together in a place as extraordinary as their love—a beautiful start to a beautiful life.
A day we were so proud to have been part of.
